When I was wed on a rainy day in October some 5 years ago I was constantly encouraged that rain on your wedding day signified good luck. Now, I really don’t see any truth in the statement myself but I did my duty and passed that reassurance on to Pat & Sharon on their wedding day in the hope that it might ease their own disappointments just a little…. Thing is, though, that if there IS any truth to that adage then these two peeps are in for a pretty solid marriage/future after traipsing through torrential downpours on their wedding day 😉 I could not have asked for a better bride and groom for a day as dark as that! By rights Sharon should have told me to go fly a kite, but I promised her we’d still be able to get some amazing shots in the rain without completely muddying her dress or ruining her hair. The hair did lose some of its volume and the dress did get a little muddied up but I think that little bit of damage was still worth it in the long run!! These two are my new faves. Truthfully. SOOO fun, SO relaxed, so easy going and so full of love! Their spirits were high in spite of the rain and everyone still managed to have a good time! BEST wedding party too, you guys!! We lined them all up in the rain and then made them give up their umbrellas and not a single soul complained!!! Remember these faces if you ever run stuck and need to fill a spot in your bridal party. These peeps are the bomb diggitys!! No lie 😉
And as a random aside….. I’m belting out “Ironic” by our good ol’ friend Alanis as I edit these rainy wedding photos and it dawns on me that there isn’t even anything ironic about rain on your wedding day. Unless I have a complete misunderstanding of the word irony, that whole sentence just makes no sense. Who’s with me on this one? Anyone? Any takers at all… Feel free to leave your interpretation in the comments 🙂
